Meet Our Adoptable Dogs

Mollie

Mollie is a purebred Australian Shepherd whose elderly owner of 10 years had to enter assisted living and had no family member to take Mollie. She LOVES people, long walks, relaxing by your side and is loyal, loving and smart.

She is housebroken and trained to stay by you off-leash. Mollie needs a permanent home with no cats or female dogs, however, she gets along fine with male dogs.

Mollie has always been on heartworm protection; she is current on all vaccines, micro-chipped and healthy, although she could lose a few pounds. She is about 65 lbs and should be less than 60 for her height.

There is a special, reduced adoption fee for Mollie because of her age. She would be happy in a home with a mature couple or single person.

Summer

Summer is a beautiful, housebroken, crate-trained, 5-month-old mix of lab and coonhound and some shepherd sprinkled in. She will probably only end up being about 30 lbs, so a great medium-sized dog. Summer is still very much a puppy: playful, active, faithful, cuddly and GREAT with kids. However, since she is so well trained she is a step-up from some of the younger pups who require more work. Summer loves dogs of all ages and sizes; she is used to running with a big pack. When she matures she will be a great running partner and flyball/agility contender or just a fun-loving family dog. As long as she gets to snuggle with you and play with some pooch-pals she will be a terrific addition to a family! As her pictures show her favorite place is right up-close-and-personal to her Human and she loves to mug for the camera!

Hope

We usually do not start off our bios with "sad" stories, but Hope's story of survival is worth telling.

Two months ago, "Hope" was found wandering in her neighborhood having escaped her backyard for the 20th time that month. She was neglected by her owner who eventually lost his home (thank god) and moved out of state (even better) but not before leaving her hungry, without water and covered by Demodectic mange; the NON contagious type that made 90% of her hair fall out.

But, Hope never lost her spirit. Friends of NDDR got her all cleaned up and treated, and now she is a GORGEOUS baby girl looking for her forever family.

Picture a "mini Rottweiler" and that is Hope. She is only about 35 lbs and needs to gain about 5-8 more pounds. Here beautiful fur has grown in and is balck, silky and thickening every day. She is lean, has a natural bobtail, fawn-colored legs and the sweetest face you could ever see.

Hope still needs a lot of training. She is house-broken and crate-trained but she is so happy to be loved and "free" that she will still hop from sofa to sofa and jump up on your guests. While she LOVES children, we think the family who adopts her should have older children or those with a lot of dog tolerance and experience.

Hope is gentle, sweet and wants nothing more than to be by your side, licking your face, cuddling and knowing the first real family love (beside ours of course) and the sense that she is HOME forever.

Please think about bringing HOPE home for the holidays! This is a TRUE rescue story and when you see her original pictures you will know how far she has come and how lucky you are to know her.

Lucy

Lucy is a beautiful, sweet, good-natured lab-mix  who is looking for the perfect new family.

Lucy is about 45-50 lbs and full-grown. She has pretty white speckles on her nose and on her paws but otherwise has a short, shiny, low-shed healthy coat.

Lucy knows several commands, LOVES any dog toys and chewies, loves children, going on long walks or runs if she can but is also content to play in a yard.

Lucy is crate-trained, housebroken and knows how to use a doggie-door. She gets along with ALL other dogs; her best friends here, Hope and Ponder, will play with her non-stop, so if you are looking for a dog to add to a multi-dog family she will adapt beautifully.

Lucy is fully vetted and micro-chipped and ready to come home with you!

Bailey

Bailey is a 6 year old female pit bull who adores human companionship and love. She is gentle with all people and loves children. Bailey loves to cuddle, watch TV, go on long leash walks and is housebroken and crate trained.

Bailey needs a home where she can be the "one-and-only" pet. She is not needy but does love to be petted and will roll over on her back for belly-rubs all day if you let her. However, Bailey is confident and can spend long hours sleeping in the sunlight waiting for her person or people to come home.

Bailey does not do well with other dogs or with cats. Although she lived successfully with them earlier in her life, at this time she is jealous of them and somewhat fearful, possibly because she was alone for a long time and craves human attention.

Please inquire about this beautiful dog who is fully vetted, trained and longing for a forever home to call her own. Bailey has a special, reduced adoption fee for the best applicant.

Frisbee

Frisbee is a purebred, smooth-coat border collie who LOVES other dogs of all ages and sizes and all people, from small children to Seniors. He loves frisbees, as his name implies, as well as tennis balls and any toy you can think of!

Frisbee was tearfully returned to us after his adoptive family's (a single mother) sister was in an accident. After she moved in with her sister to take care of her, she was afraid he would not have the happy life they promised him. He is now with us and looking for a new forever home!

Frisbee loves the outdoors; he loves to hike and swim, and his most recent expedition into the Texas snowstorm was also one of the best times of his life. Frisbee likes leash-walks but is also happy to romp in the backyard.

Frisbee would be an excellent companion for one or two other dogs. He would also be a wonderful friend to a single adult who wants a loving, loyal pal to snuggle with after work. Frisbee would also be very happy in a home with children who want to run with him and play fetch.

Please inquire about Frisbee - the fetching, fun-loving, free-spirited border collie!

Tex

Tex is a GORGEOUS blue-eyed, blue-merle Australian Shepherd-border collie. He is very well trained, sweet, can do several tricks and mainly just wants to be someone's buddy and companion.

Tex has sky-blue eyes that will melt your heart and a shiny, gorgeous marble-merle coast of several blues, blacks and grays with white that is spectacular. Here is a man who is handsome, sweet and faithful.

Tex is best with female dogs. His family had young children and he became nervous around them and was protective of the "mom," so we are looking for a single person, couple or family with older children for him.

Tex does like children and other dogs a lot but it would be best if in his own home he were one of only 1-3 dogs with females as companions, although he would love to be your one and only!

Tex likes leash walks and playing at the park, chasing a ball but mainly cuddling and following his humans around the house like a true Aussie. He knows how to use a doggie-door.

Dakota
DAKOTA is a sweet and gentle special needs Aussie who could not be a better companion dog. He is a "lethal Aussie" - the technical name for an Australian Shepherd who was poorly bred and received too many recessive traits that cuse partial blindness and hearing loss. Dakota CAn see and hear but on a limited basis. He loves to stare at the lights at nioght when they are on and he definitely responds to sounds and vibrations. Dakota LOVES leash-walks - and he uses his other senses to find his way around the house. He never seems to be tripped up by our moving the furniture around so we know he can see well enough to live a happy life. Most importantly, Dakota does not know a stranger. he LOVES to be petted and to give kisses. He is gentle with children and people of all ages. He would make a great companion for an older person, too. Dakota is easily house-trained but he does need you to show him where the outside door is a few times. he is on a good routine with meals and his outdoor schedule and will do better if he has a schedule. Please consider adding Dakota to your family - he is such a sweet dog and deserves a chance as much as any dog! he has also lived with multiple dogs and with cats and is wonderful with both.

Dottie
Dottie is a 9-month-old catahoula-border collie that will make a wonderful companion to an active family. She is very intelligent, has mastered basic commands in record time and is eager to learn. Dottie is very affectionate, loves to give wet kisses, protective but not a barker, never aggressive, and loves to play with other dogs and cats in the household and in the dog park. Dottie is very active and loves anything involving running or a ball. She would be great for flyball and agility classes and would make a great running partner in a couple of months when she is full-grown! She is housebroken, spayed, and up to date with her shots.
